Coming soon: 23 new places to eat, shop, and drink at PDX
April 12, 2023

This 2023 story has now been updated. Find the current guide to new concessions at PDX.

When PDX's new main terminal opens in August 2024, it may look even less like an airport and more like a neighborhood near you. The terminal will have 23 shops and restaurants—and every one of them is a local brand.

Once you’ve dropped your luggage off at the check-in area, for instance, you can head up to the Loyal Legion beer hall on the mezzanine to order a flight of Oregon IPAs while your kids run off their zoomies in the play area.

Down on the ground floor, relax over a pot of tea or embark on a tasting of local gins. Browse the stores for Pendleton jackets, canned cocktails, Ducks T-shirts, and greeting cards. Nosh on a colorful grain bowl or pizza cooked in a wood-fired oven.

It’s your favorite Portland weekend, distilled into a pre-flight adventure.

PDX gets even more Northwest-centric

In 2023, PDX announced the lineup of concessions, which will open from August 2024 through early 2026. Eight of the shops are familiar faces at PDX. Fifteen are brand new to the airport–but not to Pacific Northwesterners. Almost 50 percent have women or BIPOC ownership.

The main terminal won’t just be locals’ gateway to PDX. It’s also a “Welcome to Portland!” sign for the millions of outsiders who visit the Pacific Northwest every year.

“The airport has always been a quirky, fun place, and Portlanders feel like it's one of our assets," says Kurt Huffman, Loyal Legion Beer Hall’s owner. "It makes me feel very proud to be a part of it.”

Many retail store owners say the ripple effect of a new PDX location will reach hundreds of local makers. "The orders we're going to be able to place with the small businesses we work with are going to change lives," says Victoria Venturi, owner of the feminist card store Paper Epiphanies. "It makes me emotional to think about making women a lot of [bleep]ing money."

Sure, it’s a little early to make a shopping list, but you can start planning your itinerary here:
